What the matchup data tells you
A batter with a strike rate of 148 overall but 89 against left-arm spin is not the same player in every situation. A bowler with an economy of 7.2 in the powerplay but 10.8 in the death needs to be used at the right time. The matchup data makes these distinctions explicit.
Coverage and data integrity
Only leagues with 95%+ ball-by-ball coverage are included — this prevents distorted matchup numbers from incomplete data. IPL records run from 2008. All major global leagues are included from 2016 onwards.
